Horace Marshel Ayers, 78, died March 12, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto County. He was born May 17, 1930, in Ripley to Robert and Eliza Hopper Ayers. He was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired after 33 years with Tastee Bread Bakery in Memphis.
Services were at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with burial in Ingomar Cemetery.
Survivors included five daughters, Brenda Keith (Tommy) of Shannon, Barbara Gequmis (Bill) of Lake Cormorant, Teresa Evans (Keith) of Hurricane, Jean Thomas (Dee) of Horn Lake and Kay Keith (Andy) of Verona; one son, Marty Ayers (Pam) of Hernando; four sisters; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Dillard Ayers; and his parents, one sister, four brothers and one granddaughter.
