I was on my way to Taylorsville today to fulfill some Find-a-Grave photo requests in Fellowship Cemetery and of course stopped and took a few pictures at any other cemeteries I happened to pass. But I have a question about Bezer Cemetery (or Cemeteries). Since it's not already listed on Find-a-Grave, I will have to add it (or them), and I so far can't find any information about it/them.
Driving south on Hwy 37 south of Raleigh, I saw the first Bezer Cemetery on the right side of the road (GPS lat 31.97483, lon -89.49270). Not far south of there I saw another Bezer Cemetery, with an identical gate and sign, on the left side of the road -- and set slightly farther back from the road (GPS lat 31.96979, lon -89.48935). Are they simply two parts of the same cemetery, separated by a greater distance than is usual? Are they called Bezer-West and Bezer-East? What was interesting was that both contained old graves (iow, it was not that an old cemetery filled up and a new one was started nearby) and that there was no indication of a separation by race or anything else I could figure out.
There is no doubt about the name. BEZER is clearly displayed on both gates. My only question is whether to add one Bezer cemetery or two. My inclination is to add two: Bezer Cemetery West and Bezer Cemetery East. Since there can be only one map on a cemetery's main page, showing GPS coordinates, it might be confusing to add both of these cemeteries in a lump -- people going to look for a grave in one of them might not realize that there was another one. But I thought I'd seek wisdom from any Smith County locals about whether they had other names already in place -- like Bezer 1 and Bezer 2.
