A cousin, Vera Underwood of (near) Mize, Smith Co., MS,
married a SMITH. She was born Oct 1896, prob. in Smith
Co., MS. One source thought she might have married a
Thomas W. Smith, but no proof.
Her parents: Samuel T. and Vera (Alexander) Underwood of
Montrose, Jasper Co., MS. Vera (the mother) died in 1907
and is buried at Oak Grove Cem., Mize, Smith Co., MS. Sam
remarried several times and died in Alabama.
Her father, Samuel Underwood, Will was dated 1931, and it
mentioned his daughter, Vera Smith, as an heir. His Will
also named Tilson Underwood, a son; prob. Samuel Tilson
Underwood, Jr.
I found a grave/tombstone in Oak Grove Cem., Mize, MS, for
VERA MERLE SMITH b. April 20, 1919, died April 5, 1969.
This could have been Vera (Underwood) Smith's child.
DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW OF THESE VERA's???
Especially, a Vera (Underwood) Smith who may be buried
at or near Taylorsville, Smith Co., MS??
I will appreciate any information or leads to followup.
