Ada Bates -orphan of Yellow Fever Epidemic?

The family story is that Ada Bates was born near Roaring Falls (July 16, 1869.) Her parents came down with the Yellow Fever as there was an epidemic going on. I don't know the year. She was sent to live with Samuel Weldon Johnston and his wife Mamie Pierce Johnston in Yazoo County to be safe. Apparently both parents died and she was raised by them. I don't know the relationship she had to these people. A clipping of the obituary for Mamie Johnston was found in her family Bible. She married Calvin "Jutson" Milner Feb 2, 1887 in Yazoo County. They had 4 maybe 5 children. Ada died Dec. 14, 1951. If anyone can shed any light on this, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Rebekah Williams Cessna
