Jewell Mae Sheffield, 93, died July 8, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born Feb. 20, 1916, in Booneville to John and Lillie Whitaker Thompson. She was retired from Prentiss Manufacturing. She was a member of Smith Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
Services were at the McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Tuscumbia Cemetery.
Survivors included one daughter, Patricia (Charlie) Lambert of Booneville; one son, Jimmy (Ann) Shook of Booneville; three sisters, Mildred Lowrey, Ethleene Lee and Delma Sanchez, all of Booneville; two brothers, Lester Thompson of Meridian and Harold Thompson of Olive Branch; six grandchildren, Trecia (Donnie) Wright, Russell Lambert, Regenia (Mark) Moreland, Lisa (Ronnie) Hatfield, Harvey (Amy) Shook and Bran Shook; nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Sheffield; son, Freddie Shook; grandson, James Shook; three sisters, Ernestine King, Edna Thompson and Clynese Bowen; and three brothers, Ellis Thompson, Less Thompson and Hubert Thompson.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
