Dear Alma,

It has been a few years since you wrote this post, so I am not sure if you are still online or interested.

My Grandparents Vernon Sebastian Myers (Griffing/Wiggins/Callender/Horton/Swayze) and Linnie Rogenia MAY (Brumfield/Holmes/Hart/GILL)were from Bogue Chitto, MS. Know from the MYERS side they were staunch Methodists, since his mother, Leona Rebecca GRIFFING was a Descendant of the Jersey Settlers and made him promise on her death bed not to convert to his wife's, Rogenia's "Baptist" faith! Later, he did become a Baptist and now my father is a retired southern Baptist minister, and my brother is a Baptist minister in Miami, FL!

My Mom gave me copies of a Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Directory from 1908 which must have been kept by my Grandmother. It has advertisements mixed with the lists of members.

Officers listed:
Rev. William Emmett FARR, PASTOR (He is pictured.)
DEACONS: Dan BOLIAN, John D. BAILEY, G.H. VERNON
CHURCH CLERK: D.C.CONEY

It lists: COVENANT; ARTICLES OF FAITH, ETC.

There is also a picture of the church; very pretty with a tall steeple! I don't know if this church replaced the original one or if this one is still standing, since I am living in CA.

Please contact me if you would like a copy.
Christie J. Myers-Garrett
