Sardis - Charles “Charlie” Reed, 81, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Graveside services were Saturday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
Reed, born March 2, 1928, to the late Thomas Reed and the late Geneva Sims, was a factory worker, farmer and peddler. He was a member of Viney Creek M.B. Church in Sardis.
Survivors included five sons, John Reed of Sardis, Clifton Reed of Cordova, Tenn., Charles Reed of St. Louis, Curtis Lewis Cole of Batesville and Anthony Reed of Vicksburg; seven daughters, Letha Wiley, Dearia Salter and Charlene Bradford, all of Sardis, Mary H. McIntyre of Coldwater, Carrie Black and Edith Wheatley, both of Horn Lake and Ethel Reed of Washington, D.C.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
