Courtland - George Strong, 54, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Services were at Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Courtland. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Warren Johnson will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
Strong, born Dec. 27, 1954, in Courtland, to Eugene Strong and Lela Strong, was a retired factory worker. She was a member of of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
Survivors along with his parents included his wife, Lourella Strong of Courtland; one daughter, Shunita Strong; two sons, George Anthony Strong and Marcus Strong, all of Courtland; five sisters, Jearldine Moering, Casey M. Strong, Patricia Strong and Lisa Barksdale, all of Courtland and Sally Jean Scott of San Francisco, Calif.; five brothers, Willie Strong, Micheal Strong, Arthur Strong, all of Courtland, Eugene Strong of Batesville and James W. Strong of St. Louis.
