My grandfather was VANDER DOWELL SUGGS (1871-1939). In the 1910 Monroe County census, he is listed in the Splunge district and working as a mill hand. In his household at that time were his wife, Bessie Mae, and 2 daughers, Ethel and Callie. Vander was raised in North Carolina by his grandmother. Also, an Uncle Vernon lived with him and his grandmother. He moved from NC to GA to MS and in 1906 married Bessie Mae Whitaker in Quincy, Monroe County, MS. He and Bessie moved several times - Mississippi - Missouri - Alabama. I have not had any success in tracing his ancestors. My aunt, Vander's daughter-in-law, recently told me that Vander told her he was related to Bill Suggs who made churns in Smithville, Ms and that he had visited with him. He told her that they were related through his grandmother or uncle. I am interested in finding out names of ancestors of Bill Suggs. If anyone can help me with any information, I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe a descendent of William D. (Bill) Suggs could help me with this. Please contact me. thanks, josie suggs fannon
