Mrs. Lella Mae Cox, 63, of Smithville, died at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 20, 1973 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory after an apparent heart attack. She was a native of the Oak Hill Community in Monroe County. She married Aubrie Cox in 1931 and he died in 1971. She was a member of Pearce Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Services were held Oct. 21 from Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pickle Funeral Home was in charge.
Survivors included two sons, Winslow Cox of Amory and Arlon Cox of Smithville; three brothers, Truman Massengale of Amory, Lex Massengale and R. B. Massengale, both of Smithvile; two sisters, Mrs. Estle Jackson of Smithville and Mrs. Elgene Towery of Columbus; three grandchildren.
