Do you have Cook ancestors in Lowndes or Monroe before 1880?

My greatgrandfather James Fenton Cook came to Lowndes or Monroe in the early 1880's from Paulding County, GA. He was born in Abbeville County, SC in 1833.

We know his parents, James Fenton Cook and Margaret Baskin of Abbeville, but not his grandparents.

A family story is that he had relatives in the area when he went there. There were a number of Cooks.

If you are descended from a different Cook or Baskin of the area, do you know if they descend from Cooks in Abbeville or Anderson Co., SC, or Elbert Co., GA?

I hope to find a connection to Francis Cook of Elbert Co., but would greatly appreciate any information on the Cooks or other surname that may connect with my ancestors.

I will be glad to share what I have.
