Charles, I found one entry for Hugh Bond on familysearch.org. It says his father was William A. Bond, and that they were in the 1850 Itawamba Co., MS census. I don't have access to that census, but your might try it if you do.

I wonder if Hugh might have been in the Confederate army and was perhaps killed in the war?
