Josephine Davis Warren, 84, died April 3, 2011, at Graceland Care Center in Pontotoc. Born on April 19, 1926, in Pontotoc, she was a daughter of George Washington and Lela Belle Matthews Davis. A wonderful lady with a big heart, she attended Wren School. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Amory and a former member of Trace Road Baptist Church. She was a seamstress, having worked at Wilson Manufacturing and for 30 years at Futorian. She was a great cook and enjoyed traveling, gardening, quilting and working in her flowers. She loved to talk and listen to gospel music.
Services were April 5 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with burial in Liberty Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors included a son, James (Sue) Warren of Red Bay, Ala.; her sisters, Linda Butler and Mable Taylor of Troy, Marie Kennedy of the Pleasant Grove Community and Mary Sue Chapman and Annie Rae Franklin both of Troy; her brother, Felix "Peke" Davis of Woodland; her grandchildren, Cindy Butts and Stacy Hamer of Birmingham, John Warren of Red Bay, Michael Warren of Durham, N.C., and Holly Kelly of Dorsey; her great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Warren; her daughter, Peggy Warren Basden; her son, Billy Ray Warren; her brothers, George Washington "Dub" Davis Jr., and Hoyle Davis; her great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Warren; and sister-in-law, Carol Davis.
