This is not "my" Lou Ellen Sykes. I am just a Monroe County historian. I show LouEllen living in the household of William Anglin, who was her step-grandfather. Her mother, Frances Ophelia Smith was the dughter of Howard Smith and Martha Ann Eikner Smith. After the death of Howard Smith, Martha Ann Eikner Smith married William Anglin.
James R. Sykes, was indeed, the son of A. D. Sykes and his wife, Caroline.
Do either of you two ladies know where A. D. is buried? We have a local member of the SCV, who would like to find that grave.
Jerry
