Patsy Louise Faulkner Howell Mills, 90, died May 28, 2009, in Tucker, Ga. She was born Sept. 15, 1918, in Monroe County to Leonard Meek and Clara Faulkner. She worked for 27 years at Richs Inc., traveling extensively as a picture and mirror buyer. She was instrumental in founding the Cokesbury Methodist Church on Sheridan Road in Atlanta with her husband, Joel Thomas Howell. Moving to Gainesville, Ga., in 1963, they became members of Redwine Methodist Church. After his death in 1997, she married Dr. Hugh Milton Mills in 1998 and helped establish West Hall Baptist Church. She was a prolific quilter, finishing more than 200 quilts in her later years.
Services were at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with burial in the Greenbrier Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Hugh Mills; one daughter, Delores Howell Howison (Jack); two sisters, Alene Warner of Jackson and Jean Blount of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joel Thomas Howell; five sisters, Doris Nell Faulkner, Marie Verch, Maudeen Brasfield Kennedy, Fleta Bussell Paich, and Sarah Stenger; and one brother, Leonard Graden Faulkner.
