James F. Leverett, 72, died May 27, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Dec. 15, 1936, in Birmingham, Ala., to Dewitt Talmadge and Myrtle Lou Kennedy Leverett. He lived in Huntsville, Ala., Orlando, Fla., Germany and Smithville. He was a retired aerospace engineer for Lockheed Martin as an aerospace engineer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a Scottish Rite Mason. He enjoyed music and playing the guitar.
Services were at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with a graveside service with Masonic rites June 4, at the Lann Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph L. Leverett of Orlando, Fla., and James F. Leverett Jr. of Smithville; the mother of his children, Glenda L. Leverett of Oneonta, Ala.; one sister, Marilyn Phillips of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters, Polly Watson, Evelyn Murray and Catherine Leverett.
