I went ahead and did a little searching.
1920 Hinds Co., MS census:
Charley Drone, B, age 22, b. MS, parents b. MS, farmer
Hattie, age 23, b. MS, parents b. MS
Orte/Arte (?), dtr., age 3, b. MS
Charley, son, age 10 mos., b. MS
2 houses away is a George Williams who may be Hattie's father:
George Williams, B., age 63, b. MS, parents b. MS
Margaret, age 68, b. MS, parents b. MS
Reese, Eddie, grandson, age 16, b. MS
Reese, Ezias, grandson, age 12, b. MS
I think below is Charley's family ---
1910 Hinds Co., MS census:
Joseph Drone, B., age 54, b. MS, parents b. VA, married 30 yrs.
Nancy, (forgot to get her age), b. MS, parents MS, 12 children borne, 10 living
Will, age 17, b. MS (as are all children)
Charley, age 14
Mary, age 10
Emmet, age 7
__unchy (?), age 6
You have the 1900 census from Carol.
1880 Copiah Co., MS census:
Joseph Drone, age 21, hired hand in household of John C. Harris, White
1880 Hinds Co., MS, Raymond
Drone, Daniel, age 60, b. VA, parents b. VA
Facila, wife, b. VA
I think this may be Joseph's parents. There are a number of children and grandchildren in this household.
Daniel is in the 1870 census, same location
In Hinds Co., 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 there is a white man, Richard S. Drone, a merchant and bookkeeper. In fact he is the only Drone listed in the county in 1850 and 1860.I did look at the 1860 slave schedule for Hinds Co. and there was no Drone listed, but sometimes errors are made in transcription.
From what I can tell, Richard S. Drone came from Fauquier Co., VA.
Hope this helps,
Sandra
