Mr. Kerwin, Thank you so much for your reply. This has become one of those brickwalls for me.
To answer some of your questions...
No, Lizzie did not remarry, she and son, James H. died. Georgia and Joseph Claude was raised by Lizzie's sister,Mattie Dearing.
Georgia Whittington married Henry Edward Dearing in 1909. She can be found in the household of her father-in-law,Henry David Dearing in the 1910 Census.
Joseph Claude Whittington was in Neshoba Co. in 1910 in the household of his uncle, Robert T. Dearing. Yes, he died in Mount Vernon, Franklin Co.,Texas at Fort Bowie in boot camp.
I just can't settle my mind on the 1870 Census where Ephraim is in the household alone and there is a Mary and other Whittington children in other households near by.
I have been trying to find the siblings of my grandfather, John.I found 2 possible marrages for Annie.
Annie Whittington married Newton Crow on 17 Feb 1893.
Anna Whittingtonmarried Samuel Holsomback.(you mentioned)
I did find a Newton W. Crow and Mary "A" Crow in 1900, Beat 1, Edinburg, Leake Co.,MS Census.(Note: women in tomb beside Joseph Claude was Mary Ann Whittington.
Have not found Anna and Samuel Holsomback.
Found:
William R. Whittington that married Francis A.E. Johnson on 28 May 1874,but he would only be 16 years old.
J.W. Whittington married Kate Anderson on 13 June, 1878, Leake Co. He would be abt. 20 years old. ??Willie
I know that Georgia and Joseph are related to the other Whittington in Leake Co, but I just can't connect them. By Joseph being buried by "wife of E. Whittington"makes me think that is his grandmother. The date on the tombstone does fit. Because John was born in 1872 and this women was b.13 Dec 1832 and died 7 Aug 1877.
Thanks again for the reply. It has given me hope.
