Thank you for your interest. After posing my message I came across the following land transaction.

CAROTHERS ANDREW M 8 9S 4W CHICKASAW 159.86 1844/12/30 in Lafayette County.

I also found several Carothers buried in Browing Cemetery but not Andrew M. It could be he moved to Mississippi after the 1840 Census and died before the 1850 census. Just thinking out loud. If I have my greats correct, Andrew would be my 3rd great uncle. This is a note in a history of Hickman County, TN that Andrew lost an eye due to fever. No explanation given. This is a lot of information for you but it might be helpful for someone who is researching Andrew. Thank you, Phillip.
