Looking for ancestors of Jack Jackson Funderburk (think it could be John Jackson Funderburk-tombstone says J.J. Funderburk-Crystal Falls, TX, Stephens County). J. J. Funderburk was born in North Carolina, 2/25/1826, died 3/27/1907. J.J. Funderburk married Adeline Sanders, daughter of William Sanders of North Carolina. J.J. moved to Alabama before the outbreak of Civil War. J.J. joined the Confederacy as private, was slightly wounded. He returned to Alabama and his family. J.J. moved family to Marshall County, Mississippi after the war. I know of two children. 1. James Robert Funderburk, born 2/23/1860 in Alabama died 1948, married Sallie Adelia Black, 12/16/1888, both are buried in Crystal Falls, TX cemetery. 2. George Washington Funderburk (my great great grandfather) was born in Marshall County, Mississippi 4/24/1872 and died 7/30/1957, buried in Newcastle, TX cemetery, Young County. George Washington Funderburk married Mary Bell Emberlin, 3/6/1893. J.J. Funderburk moved family to Stephens County, TX in 1884. James Robert Funderburk bought and farmed 160 acres at Picketville, one mile north of Breckenridge, TX in 1884.
