My Great Great James M Woolam is in Starkeyville, Okitibbeah Co MS 1850 with my Great Great Grandmother Susan Wilkins Woolam 1832 AL.
In 1860 James is in Choctaw Co MS with his 3rd wife Jane.
In the research I have I can only speculate that James was killed in the civil war and Jane died due to child birth in Aug 1863.James went into the war at age 48 in Dec 1863.He and Jane had all the children with the exception of two from the 1850 census, that being James 1848 and Sophia Amanda Woolam-Buckalew-Smith born from his 1st marriage, 1840 census Fayette co Tn, living near his father Bartlett Woolam 1780-1845.
My Great Grandmother is Mary Francis Woolam Boliver 1854 to 1918.I have her death certificate listing her mother as Susie Wilkins and father as James Woolam.Mary married Jacob Boliver in 1874 Winston Co., MS.
Mary's mother Susan Wilkins Woolam remarried a Thompson, she is found with no husband in 1870 Louisville, Winston Co., MS under the spelling Tompson, my Greatgrandmother, her brother George and twins from James and Jane are living with her under the name Thompson.Susan also has three children from her second marriage Rebecca 1859, Robert 1863 and Harry 1866.
This gets a bit confusing and you are more then welcome to e mail me directly for clarification and I will also invite you to onegreatfamily or ancestry.com for clarification.I have also included on ancestry all the documentation that I have found.
This is where the family kind of splits:In 1874 my Great Grand got married, George married Dolly Massey in 1878 and Obediah on of the twins married under the name Chappell.Obediah's twin Bartley Thomas also married under the name Chappell.Bartley kept the Chappell name and Obediah has been found in Mississippi in 1883 as Obi Woolam.
In 1880 Obi Chappell is in Winston Co MS with his oldest son John and his wife Mary Reed Chappell Woolam.5 doors down is a Frank M Woolam born 1858 MS.In Grenada there is a James M Woolam born Aug 1863 AL.
But this Frank (death certificate Franklin Marion Woolam Parents unknown) he is not found in 1860 or 1870 census, but there is John in 1860 that was born in 1858 MS.
There are alot of things to this family that I have found out through connections with Barley Chappell's Great Grand daughters (he father 11 kids) they stayed in the MS area also.
What I am looking for specifically:A death date for the brothers, George 1856 MS., Obediah 12 Jan 1860 AL., and any stories as to who Frank M Woolam was.I know he was a brother to the twins because he had son Emmett Columbus that visited Bartley Chappell once in MS and introduced himself to Bartley's daughter as her cousin.Emmett's death certificate has Frank and Lucy Gunn Woolam as his parents.
If there are any stories about who James M Woolam of 1863 AL was. I have tracked him in Milam Co Texas up to 1910 where he was a Baptist preacher and then he disappears.
My Great Grandmother moved to Arkansas in 1890 and her brothers remained in the Mississippi area, I have death certificates for Obadiah's son's showing they were born in the Kemper Co in 1900's yet they are not found on census.

ancestry you can look under James M Woolam 1815 Lincoln Co Tn and you should come up with this family.
Thank you Fran
