Neil, It looks as though we are looking for the same David. The David I am looking for lived everywhere your David lived. It looks to me like your John W. Myers could be a brother to my David. We, who have been looking for our David don't have proof that he is in our line except for the fact that one cousin interviews my late father in law and he said his great grandfather was David Myers and he was married to Dicey Guynes. they had at least one child, William Vardeman Myers. Is it possible that the "W" in your John W. Myers' name is actually a V? The name Vardeman keeps popping up. We seem sure that David had a son Jesse Edward Myers as well as a daughter named Mary. I have always felt that William Vardeman had other siblings. Also, your David Vardeman would be the first David in the family since the original David circa 1772. It seems likely that your David was named for his uncle.(This is me hoping that there is a connection). By the way, our David Myers came to the Mississippi Territory somewhere before 1813 as that is when his son William Vardeman was born. Jesse was born about 1810 and Mary was born 1808, I think it was. If you are interested in continuing this conversation in private you may email me at [email protected]. My husband's grandfather, William Lorenzo Myers, son of William Vardeman, was born 1845 and served in the Civil War and died before my husband's birth in 1937.
