I see one William R. King , confederate soldier in Co. C 29th Miss. Inf.

Three William R. Kings listed as prisoners of war:
one was in Rock Island Barracks Aug 31 of 1864, nothing more listed about him
Another was a pvt. a farmer from Jackson AL. in the 39th GA Inf, so probably not your unless he was transfered to another unit , and that happened a lot.
The third one was from Missouri a citizen who claimed to be a soldier belonging to Capt Sonalls co, sent to Washington in Mar of 1863

I doubt if any of this will help, but one never knows for sure. Howard Boswell
