Thank you for responding.I had all of the info you sent but I did not have the 1870 census which the info is correct except for the last name spelling of Gordy instead of Gorey. This John is John T (Thaddeus) Gorey who was born in Newberry Dist., S.C. and travelled to Mississippi with his wife Belinda Sims Gorey around 1850.He is also the person in the 1880, 1860 and 1850 census records. He is buried in the Poplar Springs, Ms. cemetary and I have a copy of his obit that states his birth as 1821 instead of 1812.It also stated that he was orphaned at the age of 10 in Newberry, S.C.I believe his father was John Gorey that was a brother to Daniel Gorey. They are both on the 1790 S.C. census.
The John Gorey in the 1900 census is my ggrandfather, John Albert. My grandfather (John Albert's son, is listed on this census aqs Norban..which is actually Norbin Franklin).
I have a copy of the Gorey family bible that starts with Albert Galington and Maryann Eliza Allbritton Gorey. They had several children and most are buried in the Gorey cemetary in Pontotoc co., Ms.The Bible also names my ggrandfather (John Albert and his wife Lucilla Long).John Albert is the one that changed the spelling of our last name to Gory instead of Gorey. On the 1860 census it list Albert G. Gorey living with John T. and his family.I do not know what the connection John T. and Albert G. had.Albert G. was born on March 5, 1832 and died Dec. 15, 1905.His wife, Maryann Eliza died in 1892.On the 1900 census it list a Burton Gory living with his son, John (Albert).
I need to get the connection Albert Galington had with John T..I know that John T. had only one son, John Sims Gorey.I can not find Albert G. in any South Carolina records as of yet ... and who was his father?
Any help you can give on this mystery would be greatly appreciated.Sorry for the long message. If you like you can email me directly at: [email protected]
