Hoover, VanBuren, & William Jefferson Warren; MS,LA
I am searching for information on the gg grandmother of my sister-in-law. There is not much to go on. On the death certificate of her daughter, she was listed as an unknown VanBuren born in MS. Supposedly she married an unknown Hoover. They had at least one child, Julia Ann, and probably another daughter named Carrie. These girls never went by the name Hoover. They took the last name of their step-father, William "Jefferson" Warren. According to census records and death certificates of the girls, he was born in MS. He and Julia's mother had 2 more children: Louis Arnold and Laura Belle. In the newspaper obituary for Louis Arnold, it said the family was from Magnolia, MS. I believe this is in Pike County.
At some point the family moved to LA. I have located all the children and William Jefferson Warren. He remarried a Mary Jones in Rapides Parish in 1896. The step-daughter, Julia Ann Warren was a witness for the marriage. So I figure her mother had died.Based on info from the 1910 census this was his third marriage.
On the marriage records on ancestry.com I did find reference to a marriage in 1883 (Pike County, MS) of a W J Warren to a L A Van. Could this be VanBuren? But she should have been a Hoover by this time if what the family had been told is true.
Any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated.
Doris
