Census Errors?

1860 census dated July 19, 1860 has my great great grandparents listed twice.
I am wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem. My ancestors were in Holly Springs, Marshall Co. MS on both pages but have different neighbors. My first reaction was that they had moved during the census time. This may very well be the case HOWEVER, the date was the same and it was the same handwriting. Only change was William James HUMPHRIES' mother in law was listed as Martha Elam on one page and Martha Smith on the other thus a debate throughout the years on her name, was she a Smith or Elam? Age same. Wm's age was translated as 23 on one page and 33 on the other however the age was actually the same on both pages...23. That fancy '2' is easily mistranslated.
If anyone can clear this up, it would make a lot of descendants happier. Thank you. Also it appears Samuel J. Humphries was his father and I would like to hear from other descendants. Samuel was from KY but lived in MS in 1860. Perhaps someone has access to early marriage records there. Early marriage book in Fayette CO., TN has disappeared so I can't check Wm James' wife maiden name (Elam /Smith) there where they were married in 1858.
