William A. Bray appeared on the Masonic Lodge roster in Columbus, MS in 1821. I have been unable to place William A. Bray with a family of origin. I had originally thought he was a sib of Henry Bray, who settled in Oktibbeha County in the early 1830's, but this is not the case. I don't know William's date of birth, but he married Mary Boswell in 1833 in Lowndes County and they had two daughters. Mary was on the 1840 census without him, leading me to think he died around 1839. I believe his estate was settled in 1843. However, GLO records show him obtaining land in 1846 in Lowndes County. I don't know if he was married before he married Mary. Does anyone know where I could find more information on him? I think he was born in NC.
