ACCORDING TO AN ARTICLE WRITTEN BY MRS. ABBOTT BEST IN 1986, EDMUND NUNN ABBOTT, A SON OF JORDAN ABBOTT SETTLED IN LOWNDES COUNTY AND LATER BECAME SHERIFF OF LOWNDES. ANOTHER SON, JACK (JOHN) ABBOTT BECAME STATE REPRESENTATIVE FOR NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI. THERE WERE SEVERAL SONS IN THIS FAMILY. SOME MADE THEIR HOME IN MONROE COUNTY, SOME IN CHICKASAW COUNTY AND SOME IN LOWNDES COUNTY. THEY MARRIED INTO THE HOLLADAY FAMILY OF MONROE COUNTY.
