George WADE KING (b. 1839 NC)(d. 1923 Lauderdale Co., MS) said he was born in NC, raised along the PeeDee River (Anson Co., NC ?) and went to Lauderdale Co., MS with the Hobgood family before 1862 when he joined the CSA. He married Lurana Birks/Burks in Lawrence Co., AL and had 2 children. When he came home late from the War walking from Shiloh with a broken leg, they were gone.
GWK's death certificate says his father was George KING, born in NC. Other lines he may have been connected to were:
Clayton, May, Lowe, Hobgood, Briley, and Meachum.
George Wade King remarried to Ann RAINEY MILLER in 1866 in Lauderdale Co., MS and their children were:
Charley May KING, John L. KING, Geneva KING, James Ely KING, Johnny Miller KING, Lorena Ouida KING, Joseph Valvirtie KING, Davie E. KING, George Rainey KING, and Walter J. KING.
