Hello Ken,
My Hugh McLaurin was born in Scotland, son of Duncan McLaurin who was born in 1724. They immigrated to North Carolina in 1788 - 1790. Hugh had 14 children. Some moved to Mississippi and some remained in N.C. MY great great grandfather was Daniel, his fourth son. Daniel remained in N.C. Hugh moved to Kemper County, Miss and died there around 1810.
I don't know who your Hugh Daniel is. The McLaurins used the names Hugh, Duncan, Daniel, Neil and Laughlin in all the families. It makes it confusing to trace which family your Hugh Daniel is a descendant of. Good luck in your research.
I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Newe Year.

Edith Owens
Rocky Face, Ga

Duncan
