Fulton – Tommy Lee Turner Jr. died Oct. 12, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1949, in Crawford to Tommy Lee Turner Sr. and Leona Turner-Shields.
Services were Oct. 17 at Friendship M.B. Church in Dorsey with burial in Piney Grove M.B. Church Cemetery in Dorsey. N.L. Jones & Son Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included his wife, Peggy Shumpert of Dorsey; a special father and the man who reared him, Nick Shields; three daughters, Beverly Turner and Betty Patton, both of Tupelo, and Patricia Turner of Cordova, Tenn.; two sons, Timothy Shumpert of Plantersville and Karaodus Turner of Hanford, Calif.; three sisters, Francis Shields Heavens of Tupelo, and Pocahontas (Lincoln) Shields-Dillie and Shelly Ann Shields, both of Jackson; four brothers, Mack Turner Sr., John C. Turner, Nick (Cynthia) Shields Jr. and Walter (Myra) Shields, all of Tupelo; one aunt and five uncles; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Lee Turner and Velma Bean; and three brothers, Robert Turner, Terry Shields and Louis Shields.
