Oscar Horne was the son of Nicholas Perry and Mattie McFadden Horne of Tilden. Perry was the son of Nicholas Horn, thought to be the son of Zacheus Horn, both settlers in Itawamba County in the 1830s. Perry's mother was Jane Hill Horne whose father, Abel Hill, was one of the earliest settlers of Wayne County, TN. Mattie McFadden Horne was the daughter of B.B. and Almina Medley McFadden who also lived in the Tilden Community from its very early days. Oscar was a skilled carpenter whose porch furniture, sold to aid his family through the Great Depression days, can still be found in some Itawamba County homes. I have a vanity table and bench he made his daughter (my mother) in either the 1920s or early 1930s. His wife, Cora Ann Cantrell, descended from James Cantrell and Mary Elizabeth Friday whose family settled in the Mt. Pleasant area of Itawamba County in the mid-1830s.
