Southaven - DONNA C. BRIGGS, 66, of Southaven, MS, retired from People Plus, died at her daughter's home after a battle with cancer. Visitation will be Thursday, July 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Heartland Church in Southaven, where she was a member. Services will be Friday, July 3 at 10 a.m. at the church with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery South in Memphis, TN. She was a former member of the VIP's with the Southaven Police Department, was a house mother for DeSoto Sunrise Homes, a volunteer for Grace House, a girl scout leader, a Rockeette, and Rainbow girl. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Hyde; husband, Tommy Briggs, Jr.; brother, Jerry Cooper; and her mother, Mary Calhoun. She leaves two daughters, Elaine Morgan and her husband, Kenny of Southaven and Kitty Bridges and her husband, Carlton of Lepanto, AR; one son, Jeff Hyde of Southaven; two sisters, Cheryl Corona of West Memphis, AR and Betty Jo Cates of San Clemente, CA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Walls - WILLIAM LONZO GIBBS, 67, retired retail salesman for Southaven Supply and member of Glenns Chapel Methodist Church, died June 29, 2009 at his home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home of Hernando. Burial will be in Hinds Chapel Cemetery, Horn Lake, MS. Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He leaves his wife, Glynda H. Gibbs daughter, Kendra Smithey of Walls, and two grandchildren, William Tyler Bloodworth and Matthew Thomas Bloodworth.

Southaven - MARY McCURLEY, 89, retired seamstress for Julius Lewis, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Southaven. Mrs. McCurley was born November 5, 1919 in Shiloh, AR to the late Jennings Bryan Grimes and Mary Ruby Moore Grimes and was a member of Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 2 at 1 p.m. at McCurley Cemetery in Holly Grove, AR. She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Durley of Hernando, MS and Paula Miller of Southaven; one sister, Ruth Sides of Pine Bluff, AR; six grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Paul McCurley; one stepson, Gerald McCurley; one grandson, David Scott Hughes; one sister, Helen Rudolph; and two brothers, Carl Grimes and James Grimes.
