Olive Branch - JUSTIN CORDARREL BROWN, 19, died June 8, 2009. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. Friday, June 12 at Gillespie Funeral Home and from 12 p.m. until service time at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 13 at Community of Believers Baptist Church. Burial will be in Cowans Cemetery, Olive Branch. He leaves a son, Makilyn Bell of Memphis, TN; father, Fredrick Sledge of Memphis, TN; mother, Melvia F. Brown of Southaven, MS; two sisters, Morgan Wright and Melody Wright, both of Southaven, MS; two brothers, Dexter Brown and Naquille Rankin, both of Southaven, MS; grandfathers, Henry Sledge of Memphis, TN and Harry Brown of Olive Branch, MS; grandmothers, Alice Brown of Olive Branch, MS and Minnie Spann of Memphis, TN.

Hernando - BOBBIE JEAN EMERSON, 65, homemaker and Parkway Baptist Church member, died June 10, 2009 at her home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 12, and funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, both at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home, Hernando. Burial will be in Hernando Memorial Park. Mrs. Emerson was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby R. Emerson. She leaves three sons, Rick Parvin of Walls, MS, Tim Emerson of Piedmont, SC and Ken Emerson of Senatobia, MS; four brothers, J. C. Cornelius of Glencoe, AL, Roy Cornelius of Prichard, MS, James Edward Cornelius of Looxahoma, MS and Eddie James Cornelius of Estabooga, AL; two sisters, Betty Harris and Corrine Farr both of Cullman, AL; seven grand-children and three great-grandchildren.

Hernando - EVERETT “Pat” KELLY, 85, retired plumber, died June 11, 2009 at his residence. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Friday, June 12, and funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, both at Hernando Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grays Creek Cemetery. Mr. Kelly was a World War II veteran of U.S. Navy, deacon at Grays Creek Baptist Church, and co-owner of Kelly Towing Service. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jan Kelly House. He leaves his wife, Ruth Kelly of Hernando; daughter, Terry Lynn Kelly Aviotti of Hernando; two sons, Danny Ray Kelly of Meridian and Tim Kelly of Hernando; two sisters, Odell Scott of Coldwater and Estell Coffey of North Carolina, and four grandchildren, Justin Cartwright, Ashton Taylor-Kelly, Zack George and Christina Aviotti.

Southaven - Hazel “Virginia” Leigh, 77, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. She was a member of Barton Baptist Church where she served many years as a nursery worker. Mrs. Leigh was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edwin F. Leigh, Sr., a brother, Galen Carpenter and a grandson, Derrick Scott. She leaves a son, Edwin F. Leigh, Jr. of Olive Branch, MS; daughters, Yvonne Scott and Barbara Varner, both of Southaven, MS; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, David Carpenter of Memphis, TN, Gardner Carpenter and Mural Carpenter, both of Vicksburg, MS. The family will receive friends this evening, Friday, June 12 from 5-7 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 13 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Southwoods Cemetery.
