courthouse records- some do exist-collin

For years until recently we were told that documents we were searching for had perished in two courthouse fires. They didn't know when the fires were they said when I visited in June.. in 15 minutes we had the probate of my gg-grandfather in our hand in covington county! What a sight to see! It was wonderful to hold something so valuable to us and to see his children's names clearly in print. What a strange feeling to know I am probabl related to half the town and they didn't know it looking back at me. I did encounter someone in the courthouse who mentioned a name, I told her someone elsewas looking for that name and to go here! I had a great time, but I sure am glad I went and took noone's word about existence of records. Some did burn I am sure, but some did survive! Don't give up!
