Looking for any descendants or anyone with information about
Stephen Massengale/Massingill, bn ca 1842 TN, who mar.
Jennie E(lizabeth) ? about 1868, in Copiah Co. MS. I do not know Stephen's parents...possible William?
Jennie was dau. of Elizabeth (Bettie)? VANCE, bn in TN, and in the 1870-1880 Copiah Censuses, Jennie/Stephen Massengale were in the HH of her mother & step-father, John F. VANCE, editor of newspaper there.
In 1880 Census, Jennie/Stephen had 3 sons:
Robert Vance Massengale, age 8, bn MS
Stephen F. " 4 "
John B. " 1 "
There could have been another child or two born after 1880.
I know that John F. VANCE died in Dec. 1885, leaving a "devoted wife and step-daughter, Mrs. S.F. Massengale."
If anyone has any information on descendants of these Massengales, as I believe there probably are some still in and around Copiah Co., please post or contact me.
