Since your Williams family lived in Shubuta, Mississippi from at least 1880, there is a very good book you might enjoy about Shubuta's history, "Life and Death in a Small Southern Town; Memories of Shubuta, Mississippi" by Gayle Graham Yates. It gives both a white and black perspective on the area. I have a copy and have read it several times, but there is no index for surnames so I can't be sure if your family is mentioned in it. But you may enjoy reading about what life was like for them in Shubuta back at the turn of the century. Amazon.com has copies of it for sale.
