Updating my own message to reflect new information: Martha Elizabeth Sprouse was the daughter of Louis M. Sprouse and wife Nancy ? , not John D. Sprouse. They were listed on the 1850 census of Pickens Co., AL, then in Carroll Co. in 1860. Robert Smith Germany enlisted in the 11th Cav. in Oct. 1863 in Choctaw Co., along with a Howell C. Germany. Howell was reported absent without leave in April 1864. Martha's brother, Austin Sprouse, also served in the 11th Cav., as well as Robert's son James Benjamin Germany. By the early 1870's Robert and Martha had joined their son James Benjamin in Yalobusha Co., MS, before proceeding to TX.
