Here is what I have on the Savages:
James Anderson Savage was born September 5, 1825. Married Caroline Bagwell. 4 sons: John, Bill, Walter, and Joseph. Caroline died of TB. James sent to Ireland for a wife - married Elizabeth Shaw, 18 years old.
The four children were born:
Fletcher, whom I have not information on.
Obed who became a Methodist minister. His children were Sue Hinton, James who became a lawyer in Ackerman, Miss during the 1930s. James' children were Marjorie and James, Jr.
Roxanna Hamilton - born during Civil War. Died in the 1920s.
Eleanor Jane - born after Civil War near Louisville, MS in Winston County, September 20, 1868. Died in Ackerman, Ms July 27, 1938. Married Rev. William Lewis Graves and had a bunch of children. The first born was Clara Anna Elizabeth Graves, my grandmother.
James Anderson Savage had a plantation in Georgia, which is now a part of the city of Atlanta, before the Civil War. He was a deeply religious man, and with all the talk from the abolitionists, he decided that it was wrong to own slaves. So he freed his slaves. He gave them oxen and land to live on. He sold the rest of the land and moved to what is now Winston County, Ms. He fought in the Civil War under Lt. Gen Nathan Forrest.
There is a legend that Alexander Hamilton is a relative in this Savage lineage.
Info on GRAVES
I have Rev. William Lewis Graves' father as being James Washington Graves (b. Nov. 26, 1843, d. January 4, 1918) and his mother as being Mary Ann Mitchell (b. October 26, 1849, d. Feb. 16, 1896). His father had been in the Civil War and was captured by the yankees. Later he became a Baptist minister. The list I have of Rev. W.L.'s siblings are:
