Hello! Am hoping someone can help me identify this photograph. It is 9 1/2" wide and 7 3/4" deep. It is adhered onto a mat (not like now days, where the picture is placed under mat.) There is a flag as mentioned below, but could possibly be upside down on the pole, as there is a block with stars in it, but can't tell how many, as 2 mens heads are obstructing the view. I can also make out 2 canes, and 1 crutch that are close to the front of the group. Have a very old medium size photo that I acquired over the weekend from my parents. This description is very sketchy, since I don't own a scanner. It is a large group photo that appears to have been taken on the Square in Carrollton, as there is a tall monument in the background with a flag of some sort to the right when looking at the picture. There is what looks like a 2-story brick building in the background with a row of 4 windows on top and there is also a short black wrought iron fence behind the group. One the left of the picture there are 3 children, 2 toddlers and 1 older. The women in the picture are wearing long white dresses with banners some of which I can make out. Some of the states on the banners are MS, SC, NC, TN. Some of the banners appear to have what looks like the Company of a military group. Such as Co. K, 30th and Co. H 3 ???, as a man's head is in the way. The picture was taken by L.L. Campbell of Winona, MS. It as the appearance of maybe being something from a bicenntenial, due to the appearance of the dress, and style of mens clothing and the numerous beards. There is no date or identifying symbol anywhere on the front or back of this photo to aid me in finding out more about it. It is pasted onto a mat with the photographer previously mentioned stamped in center bottom. Would appreciate any help in identifying the purpose of photograph. TIA!
