I don't know if this is a connection or not. My grandfather was Ira Hention Smith who was born Nov.17 1907. he had a son named Quention Frank Smith who had a son named Thomas Eugene Smith who was killed in an auto accident in the late 1980's at the age of 18. It's possible that his Thomas could have been named for your Thomas. If I hear any more info from this line I will let you know.
