Seeking additional information on Benjamin A. Offutt. Listed in the page 8 of the 1860 Federal Census of Bolivar County line 36 as Benjamin A. Offert (note spelling), a 22 year old farmer born in KY. Benjamin served first in the 21st Mississippi Volunteers, enlisting in 1861. He then tansferred to the 28th Mississippi Calvary, Company D in 1862. He would serve with this unit through the end of the war, being wounded in Nov - Dec 1864 time frame. I have so far been unable to locate him in the 1870 Census, but in the 1880 Census for the 3rd District, Bolivar County, MS he is listed on line 19 of page 20 as Ben A. Offutt (though indexed as Ben A Offatt, a planter aged 41. I have information from an alumni index of Georgetown College that he died in June 1885, but would like to try and confirm this information, as well as if possible locate him in the 1870 Census (I would assume that he is in Bolivar County somewhere). Any help would be appreciated.
