Have you checked for death certificates for any of Parthena's children? As these usually give the names of the deceased's parents, perhaps it would tell you if she was an Oakes or Armstrong.
Otherwise, a search of probate records for Oakes or Armstrong may show an estate settlement where Parthena Jones is named as an heir. Obviously, that's the more tedious route, but I'd try the death certificates first.
Early certificates, from about 1913 to 1943 or so, are available at the Mississippi Archives in Jackson. For 1913 to present, try the state health department.
