I recently found Warren Elijah Webb, the son of Micajah and Harriet Benson Webb, in the 1860 census of Graves County, Ky., and also the 1870 census of McCracken, Kentucky.

Warren E. Webb was the brother of Robert Berry Webb of Kosciusko, Ms., and John B. Webb, who moved to Yell County, Arkansas by 1870. He was the grandson of Charles Webb and Catherine Stribling of Anderson, South Carolina.

Bobby Lamb
Pine Bluff, AR

Warren was the son of Micajah that was mentioned in the will of Uncle Warren Robinson Webb back at Anderson, S.C.

The Webb Bible records of Robert B. Webb indicated "Warren E. Webb and Sarah M. Hocker were married August 21, 1851."

In 1860, W. E. Webb was 32 years of age and Sarah (Sallie) Webb was 28.
Rebecca Webb was their oldest child at age 8, and
James Webb was their oldest son at age 6.
Then came another daughter, Emily Webb, age 4,
and their baby son, Warren Webb, age 2.

Little Warren had been born in Kentucky. The nearest post office was Mayfield, Ky, in Graves County.

Ten years laer the family was at or near Paducha, District 3, McCracken, Kentucky.

W E Webb was listed in this census as Warren Webb.

The oldest daughter Rebecca had left home. She would have benn about 18.

James was still at home at age 19. We learn that his middle initial was W.

Emily Webb was still at home age 15.

Warren Webb was still at home at age 12.

Then we learn of the birth of another son. Robert Webb was 10.

Also, three more daughters had been born:
Mary Webb, age 4;
Anna Webb, age 2;
and baby Martha Webb at only four months.

At age 39, Sarah Webb may have given birth to more children.

I have not yet found the family in the 1880 census. Note that the first two children claimed birth in Missippi. If correct, then Warren E. Webb was in Mississippi with his family in 1855, but by 1858 had made the move to Kentucky.

July, 1870, Paducha, Ky.,
Name: Warren Webb
Estimated birth year: abt 1829
Age in 1870: 41
Birthplace: South Carolina
Home in 1870: District 3, McCracken, Kentucky

Warren Webb, age 41, born SC, farming.
Sarah M. Webb, 39, born Ky
James W. Webb, 19, born Ms
Emily Webb, 15, born Ms
Warren Webb, 12, born Ky
Robert Webb, 10, born Ky
Mary Webb, 4, born Ky
Anna Webb, 2, born Ky
Martha Webb, 4 months, Ky

So, at this point, we have learned of three male descendants of Warren E. Webb, the son of Micajah and Harriet Benson Webb. They were

1. James W. Webb, born about 1851

2. Warren Webb, born about 1858

3. Robert Webb, born about 1850

To date, we have made contact with only one descendant of Warren E. Webb. That is Susan Sheldon Hargrove

She is a great grand daughter of Sarah Margaret Webb Beauchamp.

(Letter courtesy of Susan S. Hargrove, Jun 2002, who added,
"My great grandmother, Sarah Margaret Webb Beauchamp, grand daughter of Hugh Magill, received a notebook on her birthday in 1932 from her cousin Dora Hocker Chenault. Dora's father had been tracing the family for many years and Dora continued. Enclosed in the notebook was family history and this letter from Aug 1882 that Dr Robert T Hocker (Dora's father) received from his uncle Dr J D Magill. J D was the son of Hugh Magill, grandson of John Magill. His mother was Margaret Daugherty.

"Rebecca Magill, daughter of Hugh Magill and Margaret Daugherty, married Washington Hocker.

Their daughter, Sarah Margaret Hocker, married Warren Elijah Webb.
