An excellent reference for any of the Mississippi regiments is “Military History of Mississippi 1803-1898” by Dunbar Rowland. It is “The official and statistical register of the State of Mississippi”. It gives a general overview of all the MS CSA regiments including each of the company’s officers and where & when they mustered into the army. This book shows no company under Perrin mustering from Attala Co. There is a company from Winston Co -under Captain Michael A Metts. This may have been our Company C since it was the closet to Attala Co.
Also, I stumbled over a book in our Columbus Library “WAR YEARS, CSA; 12th Mississippi Regiment, Major S.H. Giles, Q.M., Original Letters, 1860-1865” Edited and Annotated by Shepherd Spencer Neville Brown, Sr. -Hill College Press, Hillsboro Texas 1998. Major Giles was the Quarter Master assigned to the 12th and 11th Calvary. This book of letters and documents is much like a diary of their travels. It does have my WW Cummins (11th) listed as receiving army gear.
Anyway, information on the 12th Calvary might include some on the 11th. Let me know if you cannot find either of these books in your library.
