1. REV. JOHN1 CAMPBELL died 1826 in Amite County, Mississippi.
The Rev. John Campbell was probably born in North Carolina. He was ordained to preach and
admitted to the South Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church as a circuit rider in 1800. He
preached on various circuits of the Methodist Church in South Carolina and Georgia until 1808. The

Indian Territory in Alabama and Northern Mississippi, and settled in Wilkinson County, Mississippi,
(now Amite County) near the East Fork of the Amite River.
The Rev. John Campbell served as a local preacher in Amite County until his death. He farmed, cut
logs and hauled them for use in construction of the log homes along the Amite. he died in 1828,
survived by six sons.

Any help appreciated.
