William A. James 1844-1880 Prentiss Co. MS

Like many others I have hit a brick wall. You may know what I am talking about. I will be in Booneville, October 11th or 12th, looking for my James Family who were there in Prentiss County in 1870 and 1880 per the census. Though my Ricketts Family has been in the Booneville area for many many years. My great grandparent, grandparents and parents are buried there. My grandfather was Clovis Ricketts. Though most of the Ricketts are gone now. The only ones there now are Betty Ricketts Lambert and her husband. I will tell the following so that maybe you can give me some pointers on where to look for information and save some time. If you can not - can you pass this on to someone else who may. This will be my first adventure and I would like for it to be a good one. I don't get that way much. I live in Texas.

The family I will be working on is my Great Great Grandfather - William A. James and his wife Nancy Mary Lankford James. The Lankford is sometime spelled Langford. In 1880 all family members are on the census with a mother in law. William A. James, Nancy, Robert Lee, W. H. (my great grandfather William Henderson James), J. A. (female who I have never matched anywhere) and Faedonia (Donia). The mother in law is Rachael McQuilliams Lankford. The census of 1880 shows William A. died April of 1880 just before the census. I'm sure he is buried there in Prentiss County. I have found on the Internet the following a W. M. James married Nancy Langford between 1861 and 1865. I feel the intial M is wrong. This woud have been Tishomingo County then. Most feel that William A. was a full blood Native American or his father was. My Great Grandfather Henderson was born in Prentiss County about September 1875 though he never knew it or never told anyone. Nor did he tell of his family. I feel they were somewhere around Reinze. We know he was shunned by some because of his Indian back ground or for looking like one. The family (Nancy and her two daughters) were still there in Prentiss County as late as 1892 when the youngest Faedonia (Donia) married a George Hutchins. My great grandfather and his brother for some reason had left Prentiss County about 1881 and before 1888, using some family stories. I feel he may have not known much about living there is why. He was very young. They went to McNairy County Tennessee. But why did the boys leave their mother and sisters there?

I know that in 1870 Prentiss County and Alcorn County was made from Tishomingo so some records maybe in Corinth. Here is what I would like to know

1 would the marriage bond book of 1861 to 1865 - show anything more than their names and would it show where they were married in Prentiss/Tishomingo County
2 Would there be some way to find where he is buried - they were in District 168 on June 14, 1880 - where is that? - U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index Record about W. A. JAMES Surname: W. A. JAMES Year:1880 County: PRENTISS CO. State: MS Age:36 Gender: M Month of Death: APR State of Birth: AL ID#:MRT197_165554 Occupation: NONE LISTED Cause of Death: PNEUMONIA
3 They owned land and sold it in 1878 - Deed of William JAMES et ux to Jas. STUTTS & Alfred VOYLES , page 526, Made the 28th day of Jan. 1878 between William JAMES & his wife Nancy JAMES of the first part and James STUTTS & Alfred VOYLES of the second part in consideration of the sum of two hundred and sixty six County of Prentiss and State of Mississippi...southwest fourth 1/4 of Section 32 Township 4 Range 9 East. W. A. James (X) Nancy James - do you have any idea where this maybe?
4 Do you have anyone there who is working on the family or know of someone anywhere?

I may never get passed William A. James 1844 - 1880, but for sure he was there and he may be buried there - the where is the question. Do you know if Rienze has any genealogy information there. I don't even know how big Rienze is. I have seen the sign on 45 between Booneville and Corinth but never had a reason to go until now.

Please help me.
