Daisy McClellan Bowden, 84, died June 21, 2009, at her home in Corinth. She was a graduate of the White County School System in Mt. Vernon, Ark. She was an active member of the Ninth Street Tabernacle Baptist Church in Paducah, Ky. After moving back to Corinth, she reunited with Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian who loved God, her immediate and extended family, and all of humanity. She was a dynamic cook and an enthusiastic person who was loved by everyone she met. An avid bowler, gardener, fisherwoman and outdoors person, she loved people, singing, traveling, church and civic involvement, bingo, card playing and other games of chance.
Services were June 26, at St. Mark Baptist Church in Corinth. Burial was in the National Cemetery in Corinth. Patterson Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included her husband, Johnnie F. Bowden of Corinth; one son, Raymond R. McClellan and wife, Claudette, of Corinth; two stepsons, Frankie Bowden of Indianapolis, Ind., and Ronnie Hardin of Milwaukee, Wis.; three stepdaughters, Bobbie Ball and Mildred Ball, both of Milwaukee, and Shelia McKnight of Savannah, Ga.; one sister, D’Ella Slade of Conway, Ark.; a sister-in-law, Nannie Lou Alexander of Mennifee, Ark.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ardealure Staps Alexander; and 25 sisters and brothers.
