John W. Sanders Jr., 87, died May 2, 2008, at Dogwood Plantation. He was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Alcorn County, the son of John W. Sr. and Addie Young Sanders. He was the widower of Virginia Sanders, his wife of 55 years.
He retired from GM&O and IC railroads after many years, was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a 32nd degree Mason. He enjoyed yard work and riding in his El Camino. He loved the Lord, his family and friends, and he was a servant to all.
Services were at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with burial in the city cemetery.
He also was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Cranford, and two great-granddaughters.
Survivors included his daughters, Jackie Barnes (Duran) of Corinth, Debbie Roland (George) of New Albany; grandchildren, Marcy Gray (Jason), Jody Holloway (Jay) Jenny Moss (Ronald) and Mary Anne Barnes; and great-grandchildren.
