The sorrowing family have the sympathy of the entire community.
Her pastor handed us for publication the following:
OBITUARY.
Mary E. C. MOYER was born in Clermont county, Ohio, April 22, 1848, just 46
years before the day of her burial. With her parents she came to Clarke Co.,
Iowa in the year 1856. In 1871 she was united in marriage with Matthew R.
CHERRY. She bore him seven children, four girls and three boys, all of whom are
living at home, except Annetta, the eldest, who is married and resides in
California.
Oct. 11, 1886, during the first year of Mr. BEER's ministry in the
Presbyterian church of Garden Grove she made a public profession of her faith in Christ,
uniting with that church. In the full and joyful assurance of faith and hope
she bade farewell to earth on the 21st of April, 1894, after more than three
weeks of intense physical suffering.
The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church on Sunday, April
22, 1894, her remains lying coffined where, living, she had stood up nearly nine
years before to affirm her faith in the only Redeemer of men. Rev. G. H.
BENNETT, of the M. E. church, assisted Mr. BEER in the conduct of the funeral
services, having kindly dispensed with the preaching service at that church in
order that both congregations might unite for the occasion.
